A warm welcome
Hello, I’m Emma. I’m an Integrative Counsellor and I enjoy working with adults of all ages and backgrounds, providing a safe and compassionate place to explore the issues you are facing.
I aim not only to help you find relief from painful feelings and feel better but also to discover more personal freedom – freedom to express yourself, to relate to others more authentically, to make choices that support your wellbeing. I aim to help you find your own path through the woods, to flourish and thrive, not just survive.
A Safe Space
With me you will find a safe space to talk through what’s troubling you, to unburden yourself of longstanding or recent issues and find new ways forward in your life. Our conversations will help you identify and begin to meet your emotional needs and wants, freeing you to lead life more on your own terms.
The counselling process can be a powerful way to reach new levels of self-knowledge and clarity about your life. It can help you gain understanding of what makes you tick and what ticks you off and why!
If anxiety, depression or low self-esteem are clouding your day to day life and you want a new start, we can work together. Even when things seem impossible or bleak, counselling conversations can help you feel better, reconnect with yourself and find hopeful ways forward.
It’s important to find the right counsellor for you – counselling is a relationship of mutual trust and respect, rather than an expert and someone seeking advice. I am based on the Isle of Skye in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland and can offer face to face sessions in Portree. I am also available for Zoom and phone sessions.
Training and Qualifications
I am a trained, experienced and registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I approach each person uniquely depending on individual needs, taking into account how the past continues to affect the present, how our beliefs affect our thinking and our behaviour, how our brain and body chemistry are affected, what our dreams may be trying to tell us. Beyond my training in psychodynamic, person-centred and CBT approaches, I have also been trained in Narrative Therapy which enables me to enrich my work with Narrative Practices, developing creative ways to respect and honour the stories of our lives. I also have a deep interest in the work of Carl Jung, incorporating elements of this into my work. I hold a Certificate in Online Counselling qualifying me to deliver professional counselling by phone or online in addition to face to face.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I am a fully insured Registered Member of BACP (MBACP) (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and COSCA (Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland) and I abide by their ethical codes of conduct (BACP Ethical Framework) (COSCA Statement of Ethics) and Complaints Procedures.
My practice is fully GDPR compliant, in line with UK law on Data Protection (General Data Protection Regulation). My registered number with the Information Commissioner’s Office is: ZA787892
